Narrative: Victim was bird hunting in Pachaug State Forest in the town of Griswold at approximately 3:35 p.m. He was in some thick underbrush which included mountain laurel. He heard a shot and felt stinging in his right leg. He estimated the distance to be 35 yards. Victim heard a male voice yell "Did you get him" and he replied "I think you got me". Victim saw no one after he heard a voice say, "Let's go". Victim drove home and later to a medical facility to have pellet removed.

Narrative: At approximately 8:30 a.m., victim and shooter were driving along a road and spotted a pheasant on the side. Both exited their vehicle and loaded their shotguns. The shooter shot at the bird on the ground and missed. Both pursued the pheasant in dense brush. The shooter again shot at the bird on the ground striking the victim with three pellets. He was hit in the forehead, above his left ear and back at a distance of thirty feet. Victim was transported by ambulance to hospital for treatment.

Legal Action Taken: Shooter charged with reckless endangerment, hunting from highway, and discharging weapon towards person.

Narrative: At approximately 9:45 a.m. the shooter and victim were hunting on property owned by the town of Woodbridge. The victim apparently took off his vest to field dress a deer when he was fatally shot at a distance estimated to be 97 feet. The shooter and victim were members of the some hunting party. The case remains under investigation by the State Police and the DEP.

Narrative: According to the shooter's statement, at approximately 5:15 a.m. victim and shooter were apparently loading their firearms to go deer hunting on private land. The shooter stated he placed the rifle on the front seat of vehicle when it discharged. The round went through the seat and struck the victim, who was standing outside the vehicle's door, hitting him in the pelvis area. Victim was transported to the hospital and admitted for his injuries. This case is still under investigation by the state police and DEP. Investigation may prove statements to be inaccurate as to actual happenings.
