Nonfatal Firearm 11/5/2005
Victim Age 34; Sex, Male; CE/FS Grad, Yes; Game Sought, Pheasant; Coat/Vest: Blaze orange. Shooter Age 43; Sex, Male; CE/FS Grad, Yes; Game Sought, Pheasant; Coat/Vest, Blaze orange. Hunting Equipment, Remington 1187 12 ga. Ammunition, #7.5 Lead shot. Narrative: Two parties were pheasant hunting on private property owned by the Pomfret Rod & Gun Club in the town of Pomfret. The two parties were separated by dense cover and the shooter was not aware of the victim's presence. A pheasant flew between the two parties ,and the victim was struck by pellets that made it through the brush. The victim was struck in the elbow and calf and was taken to the local hospital where two pellets were removed. Legal Action Taken: None. Cause(s) of Accident: Victim out of sight of shooter.

Age 49; Sex, Female; CE/FS Grad, No; Game Sought, None; Coat/Vest, Red. Shooter Unknown; Hunting Equipment Unknown; Ammunition,Unknown. Narrative; At approximately 11 :40 a.m., the victim was about to enter her car after taking a walk along the road adjacent to the Skiff Mountain WMA in Sharon. She felt a sting on her cheek, her lip went numb and her cheek was bleeding. There were several hunters in the area at the time, although the investigator could not locate the shooter. The victim was treated by her physician for an apparent pellet wound to the cheek. Legal Action Taken: None. Cause(s) of Accident: Victim out of sight of shooter.
